Hans Schicht

At the age of 19 in 1949, Hans Schicht left his home country, Holland, for an adventure of a lifetime. He travelled and lived in many different countries, socialised with the rich and the poor, acquired different skills and exercised many professions. His knowledge, he acquired through correspondence courses, scientific books and publications, personal contacts, practical experience and a critical mind. 

In his late twenties, accompanied by his wife, he built a rare-earth mineral mine from scratch, on the forgotten coast of Southern Bahia. Ore dressing taught him the insides of gravitation, electro-static and electromagnetic fields. Related surveying work extended his interest to spatial geometry and led on to marine navigation as a hobby. A later commercial pilot licence included aerial navigation. Then finally and just another bit higher, he ended up in the Cosmos, where he is still roaming around today.
